FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are retractable ratchet straps?

Retractable ratchet straps combine a ratchet tensioner with a built-in reel that stores the webbing. Instead of loose strap tails you have to wind up by hand, the webbing retracts back into the housing after use – so your straps stay neat, tangle-free and ready for next time.

How do retractable ratchet straps work?

Pull out the webbing and attach the hooks to suitable anchor points. Operate the ratchet handle to take up the slack and tension the strap over your load. When you're done, use the release mechanism to safely let off tension, unhook, and let the webbing retract into the housing. Always follow the instructions supplied with your strap.

What is the difference between 25mm and 50mm straps?

The number refers to the webbing width. Narrower 25mm straps are typically used for lighter loads such as camping gear, bikes, motorcycles and general ute and trailer loads. Wider 50mm straps are typically used for heavier or bulkier loads.

What loads can these straps secure?

LOCKD straps are designed for securing everyday cargo on utes, trailers, roof racks, 4WDs and work vehicles – from camping gear and tools to equipment and bulk items.

[Placeholder – list verified working load limits. Never exceed the WLL printed on the strap label, and use enough straps for the size and weight of your load.]

Are the straps suitable for trailers and utes?

Yes – retractable straps are well suited to ute trays, tub liners, trailers and cargo racks where you want fast setup and tidy storage. Make sure you attach the hooks to rated anchor points and check tension regularly during your trip.

How do I choose the correct strap?

Consider the weight and size of your load, the anchor points available, and the working load limit you need. As a general guide, choose a strap (or combination of straps) with a combined working load limit that suits your load and the applicable load-restraint guidance in your state.
